Black and White Week - Still Life

Recently in my photography, I had done a black and white week and focused on still life. This is something which is very new to me as I haven't really focused on still life so it was really exciting to try. I decided to focus on the life cycle of different flowers, so I focused on healthy flowers and then I focused on flowers which were drying and this gave texture to the images and the detail shown from the different creases and effects from the petals were coming across in the images. The top images are the images I had taken in colour as I edited them in Photoshop to change them into monochrome and I had used a few other tools (including the brightness tool and the contrast tool) to create a dark mood to the images as I felt this would work well with the monochrome effect. I had experimented with doing macro shots to really show the texture from the flowers as I feel that focusing on a certain element of the flowers expresses the beauty of the flowers. I used a book that I had bought which was full of different textured backgrounds for the backdrop of the images. This included a wooden floor effect, lined paper and tie dyed paper and I also used scrunched up, clear tissue paper and the minimalist backgrounds helps keep the attention on the main subject matters. The images below are all the images after I had converted them into monochrome.
