Macro Photography

So with it being nice weather today, I decided to go on a little walk to test out my new macro lens that I bought. It's something that I've been wanting for months now and I've finally got round to buying one and it is absolutely brilliant. The lens is a 60mm Canon macro lens and the close-ups you can get with it is stunning.

I focused today on flowers and also wanted to try taking images of insects and I mean some of the things you couldn't see on the flowers, you could with this macro lens. It brings out all the little details and with the shallow depth of field it helps highlight the small details captured on the camera.

Both the ladybird and the spider were having lunch while I was taking the images and it was so interesting to watch the spider wrap up the fly in a web and then eat it and I could capture this with the macro lens. It was incredible because the spider was so small and to take pictures of it and to see all the detail is amazing.

It has been a lot of fun since I have received this lens and I can't stop taking pictures with it. It's definitely something that I will be experimenting with for a while. I think now I've focused on flowers, I will be looking at texture next and focusing on different paintwork, bricks, buildings and surfaces. It will make a good project I think.

Thank you for looking at the images and reading my post - any questions, comments or ideas for projects please let me know.
