I HAVE MOVED!

So after a bit of patience and help... Ive finally set up my own website and I am so excited to get it fully set up and sorted... I'm nearly there but it's a slow process. I want every little detail to stand out.

Thank you so much for supporting my blog and for reading my posts and being interested in my photography it means a lot to me and is a big deal to me.

Breakfast Time For The Butterflies

While the sun has been out, our buddleja bush has been attracting a lot of butterflies and it's been a lot of fun for my photography and my macro lens. I wanted to concentrate on them feeding because i find their tongues so fascinating.

I got some shots of the pretty colours from their wings and then decided to take some pictures of their faces and them feeding. I thought the pinks from the flowers gave a colourful background and contrasted the darker colours on the butterfly. 

I tried various angles so i could get a range of different images from different heights and angles to experiment. This gave me face on shots of the butterflies and gave me birds-eye views of them collecting nectar from the flowers. I also got an image of a butterfly that was a little camera shy and decided to stick their tongue out at me. 

The shallow depth of field makes the focal point very sharp and in this case it was the faces on the butterflies and the detail on them and then the rest of the image is out of focus. I wanted to have a shallow depth of field because with macro work it really helps the smaller details stand out because of the out of focus background.

A Day With Edd And Zara

While I was at my boyfriends house, I decided while I had my camera I was going to get some wide angled shots of his lucky black cat, Edd. As he is still a kitten, he was very playful and was very fond of Penny the puffin. I managed to get pictures of him drinking, playing and eating flies so it was a good and busy photo shoot.

I then went to his sisters and managed to get some pictures of her cat Zara. She has absolutely stunning eyes just like Edd. They stand out a mile against their fur and so this is what draws your eyes into the image. I got more close-ups of Zara because of how calm and relaxed she was it was easier to get close-ups of her than Edd.

 

With it being so sunny it provided a lot of good natural light for the images so not much editing was needed to be done to them. I did an edit of Zara where I turned the image monochrome and then her eyes were kept in colour so that this would emphasise her eyes a lot more.

 

I hope you enjoy these simple but detailed images. I tried to get the cats to pose as much as I could to get some shots of them in action or sat chilled out.
